Customer Summary Great all-around protection for your iPod Touch
Customer Full Review The Speck ArmorSkin case for iPod Touch is a rubberized plastic polymer sleeve that hugs the iTouch perfectly. The sleeve leaves only the glass screen unprotected; luckily, the case includes a screen protector that sticks on with very little effort.
The case material is not quite as "smushy" or flexible as silicone, but this should help prevent tearing. The case is also a bit thicker than some silicone cases, but it doesn't add too much bulk to the iTouch's profile. With the case, your iTouch will be about as thick as an iPhone.
Silicone cases are known for being lint-magnets. The Speck ArmorSkin fares a bit better in this regard. After a week of using the case, it was still pretty clean.
The ArmorSkin's "grippy" textured back makes it easy to hold into, and the material has just enough give to provide some shock protection.
The case material is thinnest where it covers the Home button. This means that pressing the button through the case skin is just as easy to do as if there were no skin. Access to the top button is also not hampered. The case does not cover the area above the screen that contains the light sensor, but this area is covered by the included screen protector.
The case provides access to the headphone and dock port via a cutout which reveals about 80% of the bottom surface of the ipod. The edge of the cutout near the headphone jack comes pretty close to the jack itself, so some headphones with bulkier plugs and might push the edge of the case aside, but the case is flexible enough that this shouldn't cause any problems.
Aesthetically, the case does give a bit more of a masculine look to the iTouch -- whether this is a plus or a minus is subjective -- the textured back is reminiscent of ceramic tile or the surface of an all-terrain tire. The surface of the case has a pleasant, satiny feel.
The only downside to the Speck ArmorSkin case is that its thickness means that you'll have to remove it before using the iTouch in a sport armband, but that goes for just about any protective case. This is not a big deal though, as it's very easy to remove the iTouch from the case.
Overall, the Speck ArmorSkin is a good balance of protection versus aesthetics. It will help protect your iTouch's mirror finish without hurting the thing profile of the iTouch.
