Customer Summary This is a step back from .mac
Customer Full Review I am writing this review over a week after the launch. I have been a user of this service since this was called iTools back in the very first days of 2000. Back when Santana and Rob Thomas were making Smooth music together. BTW, it was also a free service back then. Times have changed and Apple now charges $99 and we have only a few more features. The so-called push technology that Apple was promoting is not push.
It actually takes 15 minutes to sync on your home macs. Also, you can no longer create groups. Sometimes, you can't even edit them. So far, the service is spotty. This was one of the best features of .mac. You can still edit any you have now when the service works, but Apple has stated no new groups can be created. All current users should get a refund because we paid our money with the belief we would get all the services for a full year. Also, it appears that homepage is not going to be supported for much longer. It works now but it appears that both Groups and Homepage may disappear like water in a desert. The so-called push technology is not enough to win over many new converts. With what they are taking away and adding it seems that the only viable product here is email and $99 a year for that is robbery. The ability to sync all my contacts, ical, and email on my mac and an iphone will be great once everything works correctly. I just wish they would have beefed up the Groups and Homepage features and not reduced their usefulness.
